Frances Lylan Wolff is a stress management consultant working with businesses, health care providers, and the general public. Her company offers corporate stress management workshops, public stress reduction courses, individual counseling, HypnoBirthing and general as well as prenatal yoga classes.
Ms. Wolff has 25 years experience in a variety of health care and business settings. She holds a master’s degree from Columbia University in Health Education and has developed numerous preventive health care programs. She has also conducted patient counseling in hospitals and HMOs throughout the United States.
Ms. Wolff trained in mindfulness-based stress reduction with Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, founder of the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center, which was the focus of Bill Moyers’ television special and book, Healing and the Mind. She is also skilled in using a variety of other approaches to stress management based on the particular needs of the individual or group.
A long-time yoga practitioner, Ms. Wolff was certified as an instructor through the White Lotus Foundation in Santa Barbara, CA. She has studied a wide variety of Hatha Yoga styles and incorporates elements of each in her eclectic approach to teaching. Her classes attract people drawn to yoga for many different reasons, including stress reduction, exercise for graceful aging, healing/physical recovery, and increased flexibility for improved athletic performance.
Ms. Wolff is a certified hypnotherapist and HypnoBirthing instructor.
As a successful institutional stockbroker and investment analyst at major Wall Street firms for more than a decade, Ms. Wolff observed at close hand the harmful effects of job stress on physical and emotional well-being and productivity. This experience heightened her awareness of the growing need for stress management skills and motivated her to form Stress Management Resources in 1995.
